Skillman, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Monday (May 14) that Grand Valley State's Chelsea Johnston has been named the Midwest Region's Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award recipient. Johnston also earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Second Team honors earlier this season.

Johnston posted a 20-9 overall record at singles this season, including a 25-10 mark in dual play. In the GLIAC, she was 7-1 overall in singles and 6-2 at the No. 1 doubles. The junior recorded a record of 19-7 at the No. 3 singles and posted a 21-9 mark at the No. 1 doubles. In doubles competition, she split time with Darylann Trout and Katelyn Schaffer. Johnston has also earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors during the 2008-09 season and All-GLIAC Second Team in 2007-2008.
