The GVSU women's tennis team saw its GLIAC Title run fall short in the Championship match as they fell to Northwood by a score of 5-2. The Lakers end their fall season with an 11-2 record and a second place finish in the GLIAC. Northwood sees its season come to an end with a perfect 12-0 finish and another first-place finish in the conference.
Grand Valley put up a good fight and actually led the Timberwolves 2-1 after doubles competition. Audrey Koopsen and McCall Monte picked up an 8-4 win in top doubles slot. Darylann Trout and Chelsea Johnston also picked up a win for the Lakers, 8-1. The team of Jenna Killips and Emily Zellner fell in the No. 2 slot, 8-4.
Singles play was dominated by Northwood, however, as the Lakers could not muster a victory. Freshman Trout picked up a first-set win over Nicole Kromer, 6-4, but dropped the second and third sets, 6-4, 6-2. Killips fell in the top singles slot, 6-0, 6-2. Koopsen was downed 6-3, 6-2 while Johnston was swept 6-1, 6-4. The remaining singles matches were unfinished, as Northwood had won enough to seal the 5-2 victory and the GLIAC Title.
