Grand Valley State knocked off Wayne State, 8-1, on Friday at the MVP Sportsplex in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Lakers improve to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the GLIAC, while Wayne State drops to 4-5 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Grand Valley State will host Findlay on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m. The match will be played indoors at Ramblewood.

Grand Valley started out strong, winning all three doubles matches. Audrey Koopsen and McCall Monte won, 8-3, at #1 doubles over Sharon Gill and Milena Vuksanovic. Jenna Killips and Emily Zellner defeated Meghan Luzod and Deby Correa, 8-2 at #2 doubles, while Chelsea Johnston and Darylann Trout knocked off Sargam Bhatt and Jennifer Bradford, 8-0 in the #3 doubles slot.

Sharon Gill defeated Jenna Killips, 6-1, 7-5, to pick up the lone win for Wayne State at #1 singles. Audrey Koopsen beat Milena Vuksanovic, 6-4, 6-1 at #2 singles, while Chelsea Johnston knocked off Meghan Luzod, 6-2, 6-2 in the #3 singles spot. At #4 singles, Katelyn Grashorn picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Jennifer Bradford and Darylann Trout defeated Deby Correa, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 at #5 singles. Jackie Shipman rounded out the singles action, beating Sargam Bhatt, 6-2, 6-2 at #6 singles.
 

 

The Lakers will close out the regular season with a match against Findlay on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m.
