Grand Valley State defeated Saginaw Valley State, 7-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers improved to 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the GLIAC. GVSU will compete in the GLIAC Tournament on Oct. 21-22 in Midland, Mich.

The Lakers won two out of three in doubles action and took five of six in singles play. Alison Koopsen and Emily Zellner dropped a 9-7 (8-6) decision at #1 doubles. Lindsay Grimmer and Jaime Oppenlander won 8-5 in the #2 singles slot, while Jenna Killips and Audrey Koopsen defeated their opponents 8-5 at #3 doubles.

Alison Koopsen won, 6-1, 6-3, at #1 singles, while Grimmer won 7-5, 6-1 at #2 singles. Killips picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3 singles and Zellner won 6-0, 6-4 at #4 singles. Oppenlander dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at #5 singles and Audrey Koopsen won, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 at #6 singles.

Grand Valley State Women's Tennis
