Grand Valley State's women's tennis team defeated Saginaw Valley 5-4 Saturday. The Lakers improve to 8-3 overall and 7-3 in GLIAC play. GVSU will play University of Detroit Mercy on Sunday, Oct 17 at 11:00 a.m.

Grand Valley dropped two of three doubles matches, but came back to win four out of six in singles action to pick up the 5-4 victory. Alison Koopsen and Emily Zellner teammed up for an 8-4 win at #1 doubles. Koopsen won her #2 single match, 7-5, 6-0, while Arcelia Gomez picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at #3 singles. Jenna Killips won 7-5, 6-3 at #4 singles and Zellner won 6-2,6-2 at #5 singles.
