COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Grand Valley State women's team got back to their winning ways on Saturday (Oct. 12), defeating Ohio Dominican 8-1 on the second of three away matches this weekend.

The victory moves GVSU to 9-3 on the season with an 8-3 record in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican now carries a 4-9 overall and conference record.

In doubles action, the team of Leah Dancz and Kali Phillips pushed their record in dual matches this season to 11-1 with an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles.

In singles, it was all Lakers, as GVSU swept all six singles matches. Niki Shipman won her #3 singles match (7-6, 6-3) and is now 11-0 on the year in dual matches. Carola Orna won her #5 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and has now won six straight matches in singles.

The Lakers will end their weekend road trip on Sunday (Oct. 13) with a 10 a.m. tilt at Ashland.
