Grand Valley State's women's tennis team improved to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in GLIAC action following a 6-3 victory over Mercyhurst College on Friday afternoon. The Lakers will host Ashland University at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in another GLIAC contest.
GVSU started off the match with a 2-1 deficit as Mercyhurst won #1 and #3 doubles. Grand Valley, however, came back and won five out of the six singles matches.
Arcelia Gomez and Marie Cameron won 8-3 at #2 doubles. Cameron also won 6-3, 3-0 at #1 singles, Allison Koopsen won, 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles, and Goomez picked up a 6-0, 6-4 victory in the #3 singles slot. Jenna Killips dropped a 6-1, 6-3, decision at #4 singles. Emily Zellner picked a 6-4, 7-5 win at #5 singles, and Natalie Pallett won 6-0, 6-3 at #6 singles.
