Grand Valley State opened its season by falling, 9-0, to GLIAC archrival Ferris State on Saturday.

The Lakers started the match by defaulting at #1 singles and then FSU won four of the five remaining singles matches in straight sets. Allison Koopsen put up a fight by winning her first match at #3 singles, but fell, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6.

GVSU was also swept in doubles action by the Bulldogs. Grand Valley will host Hillsdale College on Sept. 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Laker Tennis Courts.
