Springfield, Ill. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA DII Women's Tennis Great Lakes Regional final for the second straight year with a convincing 5-0 victory over Wayne State Friday (May 5). GVSU will now face the winner of the Drury-Ferris State winner Saturday at 11 a.m. (ET) at the Cooper Tennis Complex on the campus of Drury University.

Grand Valley State jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping all three flights of doubles action. The #1 doubles team of Alison Koopsen-Emily Zellner claimed an 8-1 win, while the #2 doubles team of Lindsey Grimmer-Audrey Koopsen came away with a tough 9-7 win. Jaime Oppenlander and Jenna Killips then staked the Lakers a 3-0 lead with an 8-2 win at #3 doubles. Alison Koopsen then dominated at #1 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 and Oppenlander sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #6 singles.
