Lakers Drop 5-1 Decision In NCAA Women's Tennis Second Round Action

Midland, Mich. - Grand Valley State dropped a 5-1 decision in NCAA DII Women's Tennis second round action Friday (May 2) at the Midland Tennis Center. This was the Lakers' first-ever second round appearance.

GVSU fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. The Lakers' number one doubles team of Laura Sukup and Nikki Fairchild claimed an 8-6 victory. Kellen Lynch and Marie Cameron dropped a tough 8-5 decision at number two doubles, while Alison Koopsen and Kim VanSprange lost an 8-3 decision at number three singles. Cameron (1), Lynch (4) and VanSprange (5) all lost in straight set during singles play.

Grand Valley State concludes the 2003 campaign with a 20-5 record.
