Grand Valley State's women's tennis team split their matches on Saturday. The Lakers defeated Southern Indiana, 5-4, but dropped a 5-4 decision to Indianapolis. GVSU is now 13-10 overall.

The Lakers won four of of the six singles matches against Southern Indiana. just falling at #1 and #5 singles. Southern Indiana won two out of the three doubles contests, but the Lakers held on winning five matches. Nikki Fairchild won 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at #2 singles, Alison Koopsen won 6-4, 7-5 at #3 singles, Laura Sukup picked up a 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 win at #4 singles, and Natalie Pallet won 7-6, 7-6 in a close match at #6 singles.

Indianapolis won two out of three of the doubles matches, with the Lakers lone win coming to Fairchild and Koopsen at #2 doubles. Fairchild also added a win at #2 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Koopsen tallied a 6-3, 7-5 decision at #3 singles. Pallett won the third singles match for GVSU with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 defeat at #6 singles.
