The Laker women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Wheaton College (Illinois) on Friday. GVSU swept the Thunder in doubles play but were swept in singles action as Wheaton recorded the win. The Lakers now stand at 16-5 on the season and will not see action until March 30th when they take on Drury in a dual match.

Grand Valley State got off to a quick start, winning all three doubles matchups. Emily Zellner and Lindsay Grimmer netted an 8-6 over Karly Olson and Jordan Hook. They have now won two matches in a row. The team of Audrey Koopsen and McCall Monte picked up an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles slot, while Jenna Killips and Jaime Oppenlander were victorious by an 8-6 margin.

Singles play was a different story, as Wheaton took all six matchups. McCall Monte lost in the No. 5 singles position, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, while Whitney Bindus also fell in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Lindsay Grimmer fell in the top singles slot, 6-2, 6-0 and Jenna Killips was defeated by Christin Thompson, 6-2, 6-1.
