The Grand Valley State women's tennis team dropped its first match on its Spring Break trip on Wednesday to the Rollins Tars, 8-1. The twenty-first ranked Tars captured all three doubles matchups and took five of six in singles to claim the win. Next up for the Lakers is Wheaton College, who they will take on Friday morning at 8:00 am.

Rollins got off to a quick start, downing the Lakers in all three doubles matches. Lindsay Grimmer and Emily Zellner fell in the top slot to the team of Tasi Purcell and Marnie Mahler, 8-4. Audrey Koopsen and McCall Monte dropped a close, 9-8 match, while Jenna Killips and Jaime Oppenlander were at the wrong end of an 8-2 decision in the third doubles slot.

In singles play, sophomore Jaime Oppenlander picked up the lone win for Grand Valley State. She defeated Mai-Han Nguyen in the sixth singles slot in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 10-8. McCall Monte dropped a three-set match to Silvia Frandji, 6-7, 6-1, 10-5. The top four Lakers' singles players were downed in straight sets.

GVSU now stands at 15-4 on the year.
