Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State swimming and diving coach Andy Boyce announced the signing of four student-athletes to attend and compete for Grand Valley State beginning in the fall of 2011. Emily Eaton (Grand Blanc, Mich.), Cristina Elliott (Terre Haute, Ind./South), Lauren Foor (Chesterton, Ind.), and Olivia Schultz (Essexville, Mich./Garber) pledged to continue their athletic careers for the Lakers in the pool.
Eaton and Foor will both compete in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events, while Elliott will swim the butterfly and individual medley. Schultz will compete in the backstroke and middle distance freestyle events for Grand Valley State.
"We are extremely pleased with our early signing class," said head coach Andy Boyce. "We had specific needs in mind and we were able to sign four outstanding student-athletes that will step in and compete for us in the pool," added Boyce.
The Grand Valley State women are ranked No. 1 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America TYR duall meet poll with 421 points. The Lakers will next be in action at Nova Southeastern (Jan. 3), before returning home to host nationally ranked Wayne State (Jan. 8) at the GVSU Pool.
