The Grand Valley women's swim team fell 180 to 114 against Clarion University after a strong effort. Jenna Thayer provided the Lakers with a second place finish in the 200 butterfly and two individual first place finishes, one in the 100-yard butterfly, and another in the 400 yard IM. Kateland Lawrie and Kelli Anguilm aided Thayer in a sweep of the 400-yard IM finishing second and third, respectively. Lawrie clocked a 5:21.91 in the 500-yard freestyle to earn a second place finish. She also placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle, while Megan Hauler finished second. Danielle Buglio supported the Lakers effort as she finished third in the 200-yard backstroke, and second in the 100-yard backstroke. Eli Frans finished behind Buglio in the 100-yard backstroke to place third. Alison VanKampen aided the Lakers as she clocked 1:10.15 in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish, and 2:30.89 in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing third.
Allison Scholtz finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, and was also part of the 200-yard medley relay of Danielle Buglio, Jenna Thayer, and Alison VanKampen, which earned a second place finish for the Lakers. Alison VanKampen, Sam Stump, Melissa Faletti and Allison Scholz won the 200-yard freestyle relay, while Amy Williams, Danielle Buglio, Robyn Kobes and Eli Frans finished second in the event.

The Lakers will compete again at the Wheaton College Invitational in Wheaton, Ill. on Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m.
