Bay City, Mich. - Grand Valley State freshman diver Karen Verbrugge has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Diver of the Week it was announced Wednesday by the GLIAC Tuesday. Verbrugge captured a pair of first-place finishes at Ashland last Saturday (Nov. 8) and also hit the NCAA DII "A" cut on the 1-meter board. Verbrugge tallied a score of 264.15 on the 1-meter board to qualify for the NCAA Championships, but just missed the freshman school-record of 265.87 set by Katy Ballentine. Verbrugge also captured a first-place finish on the 3-meter board with a score of 243.98.
The Grand Valley State men's and women's swimming & diving teams will host Michigan State Friday, Nov. 14 at Jenison High School. Swimming action is set to start at 6 p.m.>
