Women's Swimming and Diving Team Post Third Place Finish
 

 
 
 

 
Katie Lawrie earned a second place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle to earn a spot on GVSU's All Time Top 10
 
 
The Grand Valley Women's Swimming and Diving team earned 613.5 points for an overall third place finish after two days of events (288.5, 325.0).

The women's relay teams displayed strong performances, finishing second in all but one. Alison VanKampen, Allison Scholz, Jenna Thayer along with Sam Stump earned a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The 200-yard medley relay of Danielle Buglio, Jenna Thayer, Alison VanKampen and Allison Scholz also recorded a second place finish for the Lakers. Jenna Thayer, Melissa Faletti, Sam Stump and Allison Scholz earned another second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Danielle Buglio, Alison VanKampen, Jenna Thayer and Allison Scholz also tallied a second place finish for the Lakers completing the 400-yard medley relay in 4:08.53. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Sam Stump, Melissa Faletti, Eli Leskovar and Katie Lawrie finished just behind Indy to place third.
 

 

The Lakers nearly swept the 400-yard IM, placing first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. Jenna Thayer won the event finishing in 4:46.27, followed by Danielle Buglio who finished second with a time of 4:59.03. Thayer also earned a second place finish for the Lakers, finishing the 100-yard butterfly in 59.85.

Freshman Katie Lawrie's debut performance in the 1650-yard freestyle landed her the number five spot on Grand Valley's All Time Top 10.

Alison VanKampen also earned a place on GV's All Time Top 10, finishing third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.09), and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.61). She also recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.78.

The Lakers will host Wayne State Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m
