Muncie, Ind. - The Grand Valley State University Women's Swimming and Diving team raced to a second-place finish at the fourth annual Doug Coers Invitational, earning 591.5 points. The women fell behind host Ball State University (905.5) and finished ahead of Findlay (213).

The women's relay teams handed in several strong performances. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay of freshman Katelyn Childers, sophomore Sam Stump, sophomore Ally Nagel and sophomore Allison Scholz earned second-place with a time of 1:41.73. Later, Stump and Scholz teamed up with junior Danielle Buglio and junior Jenna Thayer in the 400-yard Medley Relay, tacking on another second-place finish (4:04.02) to the team's effort. The four also took second in the 200-yard Medley Relay (1:52.00). Sump joined sophomore Alisosn Vankampen, freshman Erin Lynch and freshman Erin Kinney in the 800-yard Freestyle Relay, also placing second (8:04.47). The Lakers wrapped up their relay performances in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, finishing second, as Allison Scholz, Katelyn Childers, Erin Kinney and Jenna Thayer completed the race in 3:40.51.

Jenna Thayer added to the team's individual effort, winning the 200-yard IM (2:11.39) and taking second-place in the 100-yard Butterfly (59.31).

Danielle Buglio completed the 100-yard Backstroke in 1:00.94 and the 200-yard Backstroke in 2:11.19, taking second-place in both events.

 

 

Sophomore Katie Lawrie earned second in the 1650-yard Freestyle and Erin Kinney tacked on a third-place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:59.58).
