Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State is in 10th place at the 2009 NCAA DII Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with 99 points. Drury is in first with 417 points heading into the fourth and final day of competition at the University of Houston.
Freshman Lauren Dorsey highlighted the third evening for the Lakers. Dorsey earned All-America honors with her eighth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.49). Senior Jenna Thayer also earned All-America honors with her 14th-place finish (1:04.94). Toni Musto finished 21st in the morning prelims with a time of 1:04.97. Freshman Erin Kinney earned All-America honors when she touched the wall in 5:04.02 in the 500 freestyle to finish 16th. GVSU's 800 freestyle relay team of Kinney, Erin Lynch, Alison VanKampen and Melissa Faletti earned All-America honors with their 14th-place finish (7:44.36). Carly Bush finished 19th in the morning prelims in the 200 butterfly (2:06.97), while VanKampen finished 20th (2:07.32). Danielle Buglio finished 23rd in the morning prelims in the 100 backstroke (58.42).
