Houston, Tex. - Grand Valley State is in 13th-place with 25 points at the 2009 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving National Championships in Houston, Texas. Wayne State leads the way after day one with 114 points. Competition continues through Saturday at the University of Houston Aquatic Center.
GVSU's 200 medley relay team of Danielle Buglio (Byron Center, Mich.), Lauren Dorsey (Howell, Mich.), Jenna Thayer (Okemos, Mich.) and Kim Baughman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) earned All-America honors with a ninth-place finish in a time of 1:45.43. Thayer added a second All-America honor on the first day of competition with a 10th-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:04.44). Erin Kinney (Walker, Mich./West Catholic) finished 17th in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.23), while Carly Bush (Byron Center, Mich.) touched 25th (10:30.71).
Toni Musto (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) just missed the championship round as she finished 17th in the 200 IM morning prelims (2:06.91). Baughman also just missed the finals in the 50 free with her 18th-place finish (23.89), while Allison Scholz (Ada, Mich./Catholic Central) touched 21st (23.92) in the prelims.
