Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State tallied a pair of dual meet wins Saturday afternoon in the final tuneup before the GLIAC Championships Feb. 13-16 in Indianapolis, Ind. GVSU faced Hillsdale and Northern Michigan in a double dual meet format. The Lakers claimed a 153-69 win over Hillsdale and 144-82 win over Northern Michigan.
The Lakers took the top three spots in the 200 medley relay, led by the winning team of Danielle Buglio, Sam Stump, Jenna Thayer and Allison Scholz (1:53.05). Erin Kinney touched first in the 1000 free (11:02.42), followed by Megan Hahler (11:13.20) in second. Erin Lynch placed first in the 200 free (2:01.80), while Alison VanKampen was second (2:02.24). Kim Baughman led a 1-2-3 finish for the Lakers in the 50 free (25.07). Katelyn Childers was second (25.91) and Melissa Faletti third (26.18). Jenna Thayer touched first in the 400 IM (4:38.68) and Anna Polkowski notched a first-place finish in the 100 fly (1:02.02), just outtouching Ally Nagel (1:02.23). The Lakers swept the top three spots in the 100 free as Childers (55.73) came in just ahead of Kim Baughman (55.96) and Faletti (56.21).
Buglio captured a first-place finish in the 100 back (1:03.19), followed by Liz Rogers (1:03.67) in second. Kinney added a first-place finish in the 500 free (5:24.61), while Katie Czirr was second (5:25.73). GVSU competed in exhibition only for the final three events.
