Indianapolis, Ind. - The No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving team claimed a 142.5-91.5 victory over Indianapolis in GLIAC swimming & diving action Saturday afternoon. GVSU used superior depth to claim the win en route to their sixth dual meet win of the year. The Lakers will host Northern Michigan next Saturday (Jan. 30) before competing in the GLIAC Championships Feb. 10-13 in Detroit, Mich.

The Lakers' 200 medley relay team of Marissa Orr, Lauren Dorsey, Allison Scholz and Katelyn Childers finished second (1:52.37). Erin Kinney led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 freestyle. Kinney touched in 10:49.06, followed by Amy Akers (10:54.05) and Kelsey Reid (10:59.26). Marissa Doepker finished second in the 200 free (1:59.43), while Childers touched third (2:02.05). Jenna Faletti led a 1-2 finish in the 50 free when she touched the wall in 24.55. Kelsey Vermeer tied for second (25.16). Toni Musto was second in the 200 IM (2:12.30) and Sam Stump touched third (2:16.70).

Karen Verbrugge claimed first-place finishes on the 1-meter (256.45) and 3-meter (260.05) diving boards. Rachel Strom tallied second-place finishes in both the 1-meter (233.60) and 3-meter (217.50) events. Doepker finished second in the 100 fly (1:00.80), while Orr touched first in the 100 free (54.25). Vermeer finished second in the 100 back (1:00.74), followed by Kim Baughman (1:01.46). Musto won the 100 breast (1:08.03), while Dorsey (1:09.66) touched second. Kinney touched second in the 500 free (5:17.67) and the Lakers' 200 free relay team of Vermeer, Faletti, Scholz and Baughman finished second (1:38.34).
