The Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving team claimed a 156-66 victory over Findlay Saturday (Jan. 16) afternoon in GLIAC action. GVSU will conclude regular season action this coming Friday (Hope) and Saturday (Indianapolis) on the road. Following regular season action, the Lakers will next compete at the GLIAC Championships (Feb. 10-13).

In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Kelsey Vermeer, Toni Musto, Adina Bohr, and Sam Stump took first with a time of 4:03.91. Erin Kinney won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:47.57, while Carly Bush won the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:59.27. Vermeer earned her second win of the day in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.37, while Stump did the same with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.73. Karen Verbrugge notched a first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 266.25, but finished second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 275.55. Kaci Swieter won the 200-yard butterfly competition in a time of 2:15.25, and Marissa Orr took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.02. Toni Musto got her second victory of the day with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.87. The women capped off the day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:38.49 from Vermeer, Stump, Katelyn Childers, and Orr.

 

 

Other notable finishers included Melissa Faletti placing third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:42.10, the highest GVSU finisher in that event, as well as Jordan Appleyard finishing second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.77.
