Detroit, Mich. - Grand Valley State dropped a 189.5-110.5 decision to Wayne State Saturday afternoon in Detroit. The Lakers, ranked second in the latest NCAA DII dual meet rankings, will host Findlay next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the GVSU Pool.
GVSU's 200 medley relay team of Marissa Orr, Lauren Dorsey, Carly Bush and Kelsey Vermeer touched second (1:51.17), while Kim Baughman, Toni Musto, Allison Scholz and Jenna Faletti finished third (1:52.35). Karen Verbrugge claimed the Lakers' only victories recording scores of 274.60 on the 1-meter board and 281.50 on the 3-meter. Amy Akers touched third in the 1000 free (10:59.90) followed by Carly Bush in fourth (11:00.32). Erin Kinney finished second in the 200 free (1:58.46), while Kim Baughman finished second in the 100 back (59.73) and Marissa Orr was third (1:01.26). Lauren Dorsey touched third in the 100 breast (1:07.68). Carly Bush was third in the 200 fly (2:14.06), followed by Erin Lynch in fourth (2:15.27).
The Lakers went 2-3-4 in the 50 free as Kelsey Vermeer touched second (24.78), followed by Jenna Faletti in third (24.97) and Allison Scholz in fourth (25.35). Vermeer (54.01) led a 2-3-4-5 finish in the 100 free. Baughman touched third (55.44), Faletti fourth (55.52) and Katelyn Childers fifth (55.72). Orr finished second in the 200 back (2:11.68), while Toni Musto was second in the 200 breast (2:22.13) and Dorsey third (2:27.17). Kinnney touched second in the 500 free (5:14.27) and Bush was second in the 200 fly (58.99). Kaci Swieter finished third in the 200 IM (2:16.89) and the Lakers' 400 free relay team of Orr, Sam Stump, Faletti and Vermeer finished second (3:39.29).
