Grand Valley State had five student-athletes named to the 2005 All-GLIAC Softball Team for their outstanding play this season. GVSU ended it season with a 24-20 overall record and finished fifth in the GLIAC with a 13-7 record.

Junior third baseman Denise Ireton, junior center field Tara Marsh, and junior pitcher Kristin Jenner all earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors, while senior short stop Sarah Paape and sophomore first baseman Crista Buresh were both named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention team.

The Lakers were the #3 seed in the GLIAC Tournament, but fell, 7-2 to Wayne State and 4-1 to Saginaw Valley State to end their season.
