Starkville, Miss. - Senior Kristin Moleski was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All Region First Team following her performance this season. The announcement comes a day after Moleski was named a member of the Daktronics, Inc. All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. Fellow senior Elizabeth Smith also earned postseason plaudits, as she was named to the NFCA All-Region Second Team. Moleski and Smith finished the season as the two top hitters in most offensive categories.
Moleski, who started every game this season at second base, hit .366 on the year, which put her second on the team. She tied for the team lead in both doubles (11) and triples (5), and came in second with 29 runs batted in. She ranked 32nd in Division II with 0.12 triples per game and was a First Team All-GLIAC selection. Her .610 slugging percentage was second on the team and was helped by her 19 extra-base hits. She also laid down seven sacrifice hits on the year.
Smith hit a stellar .411 on the season, driving in 38 runs, both team highs. She also scored another 12 runs of her own and notched 44 hits. She hit eight doubles and a team-high six home runs. She had 70 total bases on the year for a team-best .654 slugging percentage. She only struck out seven times in 107 at-bats, while drawing 10 walks. She ranked 75th in Division II in batting average and 100th in slugging percentage. She also earned All-GLIAC First Team plaudits.
