Bay City, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference announced its postseason softball awards during the tournament this weekend and four Lakers were featured on the first team. Stephanie Cole, Sarah Holland, Kristin Moleski and Elizabeth Smith were all named First Team All-GLIAC and three other GVSU players earned either second team or honorable mention plaudits.

Stephanie Cole was the lone Laker pitcher honored on in the All-GLIAC awards. She was named to the first team after going 13-6 on the year. She appeared in 23 games, starting in 19 of them. She finished the season with an earned-run average of 1.83 with 75 strikeouts in 126.1 innings. She allowed 99 hits and 33 earned runs on the season with seven shutouts.

Sarah Holland was named to the first team as an outfielder. She was second on the team with a batting average of .344 and led the team with 33 runs scored. She also had a team-high in hits with 52 to go with 11 doubles and five triples. She also swatted three home runs and slugged .543.

Kristin Moleski finished the year second in batting average at .366. She started in all 43 games for the Lakers and scored 29 runs while batting in another 29. She hit three home runs, including one in the conference tournament. She had 45 hits on the season with 11 doubles and five triples. She walked 13 times, which was the most on the team, with just 10 strikeouts.

Elizabeth Smith led the team in many offensive categories. She hit .411 with six home runs and 38 runs batted in, which were all team highs. She also go on base at a .462 clip and slugged .654. She hit a home run in the conference tournament and recorded the team's three RBI in a 6-3 loss to Ashland in the first round. On the season, she walked 10 times and struck out just seven times.

 

 

Nichole Woityra earned Second Team All-GLIAC plaudits as a shortstop. She hit .324 on the year with 26 runs scored and another 12 batted in. She had a fielding percentage of .962 on the year with just six errors to 58 putouts and another 92 assists. Breanne Kronberg and Lisa Preuss were both Honorable Mention All-GLIAC.
