Bay City, Mich. - The #18 Grand Valley State softball team got off to an impressive 10-2 start at the NTC Spring Games last week and senior pitcher Hannah Santora helped lead the way. Santora was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday (Mar. 12), as released by the conference office.

The senior righthander went a perfect 6-0 in six starts last week, throwing a complete game in all six outings. She posted a 2.44 earned run average, striking out 25 batters in the process. Santora tossed all eight innings in a come-from-behind 8-7 win over Cedarville on Mar. 8. Her best outing, however, came in a 4-1 win over Fort Hays State, when she allowed just one run and struck out five in the 4-1 victory.

Santora's six wins are three more than any other pitcher in the GLIAC thus far. She also ranks second in the league in complete games, third in innings pitched (43.0), and sixth in strikeouts.

GVSU will travel to Ohio this weekend for a pair of non-conference doubleheaders. The Lakers take on Urbana on Saturday (Mar. 16) and travel to Notre Dame College on Sunday (Mar. 17). Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
