Grand Valley State fell, 1-0, to Wayne State in the NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional Championship Game Saturday. The Lakers forced the Warriors into the second championship game as they defeated Wayne State, 2-0, earlier Saturday. However, in the rematch GVSU could not score.

The lone run of the game, came in the bottom of the fifth as the Warriors hit a home run. Freshmen Tara Marsh and Denise Ireton each tallied two hits for the Lakers.

Freshman Kristin Jenner pitched five innings for GVSU, allowing four hits, one runs, and struckout two. She finishes the season with a 17-2 record. Jennifer Mackson pitched the final inning for the Lakers.

Four Lakers made the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional All-Tournament Team for their outstanding play. Senior Rachel Blain (outfield), senior Kerri Jonas (infield), junior Jennifer Mackson (pitcher), and junior Lindsay Crawford (at large) all received honors.

The Lakers conclude the season with a 49-6 overall record. GVSU claimed the GLIAC title and tallied a 17-1 conference record.
