Midland, Mich. - Due to continuous rain all day Friday and more of the same weather planned for the weekend, the 2010 GLIAC Softball Tournament was cancelled on Saturday morning (May 8). Only two games were even started on Friday morning before the skies opened, forcing the postponement and eventual cancellation of the opening day's games. The tournament will not be re-scheduled.

In Friday's opening set of games, Grand Valley State and Ashland were tied at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning, while Saginaw Valley State owned a 4-0 lead over Northwood in the fourth frame. As none of the games will be made up, Wayne State was crowned the 2010 GLIAC Champions due to their regular season title, as the Warriors will receive the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament. GVSU ends the 2010 season with a 22-24 record, finishing 10-16 in the conference.
