Grand Valley State defeated Northwood, 7-0, in their third game of the day on Friday. The Lakers improve to 30-19 overall and will play Ashland on Saturday, May 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Grand Valley State scored one run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. To lead off the game for GVSU, freshman shortstop Nichole Woityra walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She scored the Lakers first run on a double down the left field line by sophomore second baseman Kristin Moleski. In the second inning, sophomore designated player Elizabeth Smith hit a home run to center field to put the Lakers up 2-0.

GVSU added three runs in the third inning to go ahead, 5-0. Moleski walked with one out and scored on a home run to left field by senior third baseman Denise Ireton. The next batter, junior first baseman Crista Buresh hit a home run to left field to add another Laker run.

Moleski started the fifth inning with the Lakers fourth home run of the game. With one out, Buresh singled through the left side and advanced to second on a single to right field by Smith. Buresh scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.

Freshman Lori Andjelich (13-10) picked up the win, throwing all seven innings. She allowed just three hits and tallied 11 strikeouts.

Moleski went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Ireton was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Buresh posted two hits, an RBI, and two runs scored and Smith went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
