Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State University opened its new softball field in style, as the No. 7 Lakers defeated Olivet College in both games of a double-header. The Lakers took game one 3-0 and followed that up with a 9-0, five-inning win in game two. Smith singled later in the inning, scoring Woityra and giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead. Although one run was all that Andjelich needed, GVSU added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Kristin Moleski and Smith both singled to put runners on first and second. Plummer doubled to center field on the next at-bat, plating Moleski and sending Stephanee Schrader, a pinch runner, to third. Becky Rudenga scored Schrader went she sent a sacrifice fly to deep left field. That run was the final run of the game, as Grand Valley State earned a 3-0 win.

Grand Valley State excelled both offensively and defensively in game two. Cole (5-1) pitched five no-hit innings while the Lakers scored nine runs on nine hits with no errors to back her up. Moleski led the offense, going 2-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.

The Lakers started their scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Moleski singled down the left-field line to lead off the inning and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Plummer. A single up the middle by Schrader scored Moleski and put the Lakers up 1-0 after two. GVSU piled on in the third, scoring four more runs. Woityra scored Rudenga on a single to left field to start the scoring. Moleski tripled later in the inning, scoring both Lisa Preuss and Woityra. Plummer brought in the final run of the inning when a single to left-center plated Moleski.

GVSU didn't stop the offensive run, despite the 5-0 lead after three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Holland brought in two more runs when she hit a one-out double to right center, which sent both Rudenga and Breanne Kronberg across the plate.
