Grand Valley State improves to a perfect 4-0 record with a 4-3 win over Saint Anselm on Monday morning in Ft. Myers, Fla. The Lakers will play a doubleheader against Winona State on Tuesday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Florida Gulf Coast University.

The Lakers scored first again posting a run in the top of the second inning and three more in the third inning. Junior designated player Elizabeth Smith started off the second inning with an one out single up the middle. Freshman Lesley Bates pinch ran for Smith and stole second base. She advanced to third on a single by junior center fielder Lisa Preuss and scored on a single through the left side by sophomore third baseman Becky Rudenga.

Sophomore shortstop Nichole Woityra started off the third inning with a single to left field and advanced to second base on a throwing error by the left fielder. She moved to third base on a single to center field by junior second baseman Kristin Moleski. Freshman catcher Breanne Kronberg tripled to left center field to bring in two runs. Kornberg scored as Smith singled to bring home the third run of the inning.

Saint Anselm closed the gap by posting a three run fourth inning, but the Lakers held onto their one run victory.

Junior pitcher Stephanie Cole picked up her second win of the season as she threw four innings of play. She allowed six hits, one walk, and just one earned run. Sophomore Lori Andjelich recorded the save as she came in and struck out seven of the 10 batters she face. In three innings of action, she allowed just one hit.
