Grand Valley State dropped a 5-3 decision to LeMoyne College on Saturday afternoon in Ft. Myers, Fla. GVSU falls to 2-2 on the season with both losses coming to the Dolphins. The Lakers will play Lynn University at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and Florida Gulf Coast University at 5:00 p.m.

The Lakers allowed four runs in the top of the second inning, but cut the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Junior CF Tara Marsh reached first base on a throwing error by the pitcher and advance to second base. Marsh scored on a double to left center by freshman Kristin Moleski.

LeMoyne added a run in the top of the fifth inning to increase the lead to 5-1. Junior 3B Denise Ireton hit a two-run home run to center field in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lakers couldn't score any more runs.

Freshman Stephanie Cole pitched six innings in her debut as a Laker. She allowed 10 hits and three earned runs, while striking out three batters. Redshirt freshman Amanda Brown pitched the final inning of play. The Lakers recorded two errors on the day, while posting just four hits.

Moleski was 2-for-3 with an RBI on the day, while Ireton was 1-for-1 with two RBI and a run scored. Junior LF Shelby Brayton tallied GVSU's other hit.
