Grand Valley State improved to 2-1 on the season as they defeated Lynn University, 1-0, in Ft. Myers, Fla. Saturday morning. GVSU will continue play against LeMoyne College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

The Lakers scored the game's lone run in the bottom of third inning. Freshman 2B Kristin Moleski singled to left field with two outs and then stole second. Senior SS Sarah Paape walked and the bases became loaded as sophomore 1B Crista Buresh reached first base on an error by the pitcher. Freshman DH Elizabeth Smith got on base on a walk and bring in the game's lone run.

Junior pitcher Kristin Jenner picked up her second win of the season, pitching five innings. She allowed just one hit, two walks, and struck out three. Sophomore Allison Crews picked up the save, throwing the final two innings. Crews recorded two strikeouts, while allowing two hits and a walk.

The Lakers recorded just two hits on the game. Moleski went 1-for-3 with a run scored and junior 3B Denise Ireton tallied the other hit, going 1-for-2 in the game.
