Vroegindewey hit a single in the bottom of the seventh to score the winning run.

Box Score

Grand Valley defeated Saint Anselm College, 3-2, on a two out single by 1B Sara Vroegindewey. 2B Jennifer Goldschmeding scored on the play after she reached base on a triple. The Lakers improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Lakers trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when SS Kerri Jonas hit a homerun with one out to tie the game at 2. Goldschmeding ended the game with two hits as did freshman center fielder Tara Marsh. 3B Lindsay Crawford went 2-for-3 with a triple and left fielder Erin Ballinger went 2-for-3.

Jennifer Mackson picked up her third win of the season pitching all seven innings. She gave up six hits and recorded eight strikeouts.

GVSU will continue play today at 11 a.m. against Regis College (Mass).
