Laker Softball Earns Scholar-Athlete Honors
GVSU Posts 3.287 Grade Point Average in 2010-11
2010: Appeared in 24 games and made 19 starts, all of which came in the middle infield...Finished the season with a .265 average, nine hits, four runs, and a solo homer...Went 4-for-7 in the team's final doubleheader of the season at Saginaw Valley State (5/2), totaling two hits in each game and hitting her first collegiate homer in the opener...Was 2-for-2 with a run scored in a 6-1 win over Saint Joseph's (3/17) for her first multi-hit game.
High School: Prepped at Homewood-Flossmoor High School under head coach Angela Altman...Earned all-conference honors during both her sophomore and junior seasons, while being a team captain in her junior and senior years...As a junior, batted .423 with 36 RBI and hit .516 with four homers and 18 RBI in the first eight games of her senior season...Also played volleyball for two seasons...Participated in National Honors Society for three years.
Personal: Daughter of Bill and Debbie Kopas...Enjoys playing all sports, wiffleball, hanging out with friends, and going swimming and to the beach...Majoring in business.
