Lakers Earn Split to Start 2013 Season

GVSU Defeats Wayne State (Neb.), Falls to Gannon

2013: Appeared in 12 games (and made two starts), tallying three hits, a double, and an RBI as the team's back-up catcher...Went 1-for-2 and scored a run in first start of the season against Gannon (3/3)...Recorded nine putouts and was 1-for-2 with a run scored in a 10-8 conference victory against Malone (3/23)...Tallied an RBI double in the second inning of a 12-1 home win against Lake Erie (3/30).

2012: Saw action in 15 games, recording a .400 batting average with four hits in 10 at-bats...Tallied three doubles, four RBI, and five runs scored...Recorded a double in three straight appearances, which were first three hits of collegiate career...Smacked a bases-clearing double against Rochester (3/20), combining to go 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBI in twinbill sweep over Warriors.

Prior to GVSU: Played two years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College under head coach Mike Clark...Named to the All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association team in both 2010 and 2011...Batted .387 in 2010 and .325 in 2011, while leading Cougars in both homeruns and RBI in both seasons...Tabbed as an All-NJCAA Academic selection and earned All-American academic honors.

High School: Prepped at Portage Central under head coach Tom Hamilton...Four-year letterwinner for the Mustangs and earned All-SMAC (Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference) honors in 2006, 2008, and 2009...Named team captain during her junior and senior season and was voted team's offensive MVP in both of those years...Helped Portage Central to a pair of conference championships (2008, 2009) and a district title, regional championship, and a state semifinal finish in 2009...Earned all-state academic honors in three sports...Collected eight varsity letters over three sports, while playing four years of basketball and softball and two years each of volleyball and golf...Participated in National Honor Society and Student Council, while graduating with a grade point average of 4.30.
