#20 Lakers Open Spring Break Trip With a Pair of Victories

GVSU's pitching staff racked up 18 strikeouts in two victories on Sunday (Mar. 2) afternoon

2008: Named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete...Appeared in 22 games on the mound, making 20 starts for the Lakers...Recorded a 11-9 record and finished with a 2.08 ERA...Totaled 114.2 innings pitched, 14 complete games, and four shutouts...Led GVSU with 80 strikeouts, allowing just 25 walks for the season...Finished fifth in the GLIAC in opponents batting average (.223)...Ranked eighth in the league in ERA (2.08) and fewest hits allowed (95)...Placed ninth in the conference in wins (11), walks allowed (25), and strikeouts (80)...Did not allow a triple all season, tying her with three other pitchers for the best total in the GLIAC...Recorded five or more strikeouts in nine different starts...Tallied back-to-back shutouts against Mercyhurst and Gannon (3/29-3/30)...Notched a five-inning no-hitter versus Mercyhurst (3/29) in a 9-0 win, striking out four batters, with the only base runner coming on an error...Started the season with three consecutive games of seven strikeouts (3/2-3/4)...Tossed a complete-game, two-hit, eight-strikeout performance in a 3-0 win over Olivet (3/19)...Recorded second eight-strikeout game of the season in 4-2 win at Northwood (4/6)...Ranks third all-time in Laker history in strikeouts (457), seventh in shutouts (18), eighth in wins (44), ninth in complete games (56), and 10th in innings pitched (489.1).

2007: Earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors...Named to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region First Team...A Second Team All-GLIAC selection...Appeared in 33 games with a record of 17-7...Posted an earned-run average of 1.51 for the season which was good enough for fourth in the GLIAC...She pitched 22 complete games with seven shutouts...Pitched a total of 189.2 innings and gave up just 128 hits while striking out 181...Held opponents to a .187 batting average...Started in 24 games...Walked just 33 batters all season long...Ranked fourth in the GLIAC with 181 strikeouts...Threw a no-hitter against Mars Hill College with just one base on balls (3/11)...Struck out a season-high 14 batters in 13 innings against Missouri-Rolla (5/12).

2006: Started in 27 games and made 35 appearances as a freshman pitcher for the Lakers...Tallied a 16-12 record with three saves and a 1.59 ERA...Her 1.59 ERA ranked second in the GLIAC and 47th in the nation...Her 16 wins tied for fifth best in the conference and her three saves tied for 26th in the nation...Threw 20 complete games and seven shutouts...Pitched 185.0 innings, allowing 129 hits and 42 earned runs...Allowed 59 walks, but tallied 196 strikeouts, which ranks fourth on GVSU's single-season list and ranked fourth in the GLIAC...Her 7.42 strikeouts per game ranked fourth in the GLIAC...Lori's 35 appearances ranked third best in the conference, her seven shutouts tied for second best, and her 12 complete games ranked third...Gave up just three hits, while striking out 10 in seven innings of action in a 3-1 win over Newberry College (3/4)...Recorded a season-high 14 strikeouts in seven innings as GVSU defeated Cornerstone, 2-0 (4/4)...Posted 10 strikeouts, while giving up just two hits in a 10-8, 10-inning win over Hillsdale (4/28)...Pitched seven innings, allowing just three hits, while striking out 11 in a 7-0 win over Northwood in the GLIAC Tournament...Gave up more than four hits just 10 out of 35 times...Struck out at least five batters in 20 out of 35 games.

High School: Prepped at Munster High School under head coach Beth Vesa...Tallied a career ERA of .40...Was team leader her senior season with fewest walks per game (.98)...Led team with 12.76 strikeouts per game...Tallied 15 wins as a senior and posted a school record for lowest single-season ERA (.25)...Played in the North/South All-Star game...Named team's MVP and co-captain her senior year...Earned First Team All-Lakes Athletic Conference and second team all-state honors...Also named to Academic All-Lakes Athletic Conference and academic all-state honorable mention teams...Also played two years of basketball...Member of National Honor Society her junior and senior years.

Personal: Daughter of Milan and Gail Andjelich...Has played piano since she was three years old...Played softball with her older sister throughout her entire softball career...Majoring in business.
