Six Lakers Earn All-GLIAC Soccer Honors

Grand Valley State had six players named to the All-GLIAC women's soccer team. The Lakers are coming off their best season ever in school history (17-2-2). GVSU hosted the Great Lakes Regional Tournament, where they fell, 4-3, to Northern Kentucky in the championship game.

Sophomore forward Mirela Tutundzic earned First Team All-GLIAC honors for the second straight season as she tallied 22 goals, 14 assists, and seven game-winning goals. Senior goalie Melissa Henson was named to the All-GLIAC First Team as she only allowed 15 goals, while tallying 85 saves and eight shutouts. Senior defender Abby Gienapp was the final Laker who earned First Team All-GLIAC honors, as she was a key figure in GVSU's defense that only allowed 17 goals, 8.8 shots per game, and 100 shots on goal.

Earning Second Team All-GLIAC honors were sophomore defender Rachel Bondy, freshman middle fielder Shannon Carrier, and sophomore forward Jenny Swalec. Bondy played a key role in the Lakers defense that allowed only 0.79 goals per game and tallied a 0.79 shot percentage. Carrier was second on the team in goals scored with 12 and added 10 assists in her first year as a Laker. Swalec ranked third on the team as she tallied 10 goals and 10 assists.
