Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State will host the second GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament this weekend, with the semifinals on Friday (Nov. 7) and the finals on Sunday (Nov. 9). Ferris State, Saginaw Valley State and Tiffin will all travel to Allendale, Mich., to take part in the tournament.
GVSU (19-0, 14-0 GLIAC) enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed after completing its second consecutive perfect regular season. The Lakers have been ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA/adidas national poll for the majority of the past two seasons. Grand Valley State has won 27 straight conference matches (t-3rd in Division II) dating back to Sept. 29, 2006. They have also earned a point in 40 consecutive matches (t-4th in Division II) dating back to Sept. 4, 2005.
The Lakers will take on Ferris State (9-8-1, 7-6-1 GLIAC) in their semifinal match, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed and are coming off of a 2-0 win over Northern Michigan in the quarterfinals.
At 12 noon on Friday, No. 2 Tiffin (13-4-1, 9-4-1 GLIAC) will play against No. 3 Saginaw Valley State (8-7, 8-6 GLIAC). The Cardinals defeated Findlay 3-0 in the quarterfinals to advance.
