Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State placed four women's soccer players on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV team. Senior defender Natalja Stanski was honored a First Team selection and will be up for national team honors later this season. Kristen Eible, Katie Johnson, and Irie Dennis were named to the Second Team.
Stanski has been apart of an impressive backline that has only allowed eight goals all season, averaging out to .421 goals-against per game. Stanski and the Lakers have also held opponents to just 45 shots on goal through 19 matches. The senior was named the 2008 GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and was a Daktronics, Inc. First Team All-American in 2008. Stanski has also put together a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in Biomedical Science.
Eible, a junior midfielder, has a 3.89 GPA in Group Social Studies and English. She has recorded four goals and an assist for a total of nine points this season and has started all 19 games for the Lakers. Three of her four goals have been games-winning goals for GVSU, which places her third on the team. She has been a First Team All-GLIAC selection for the past two seasons.
A Biomedical Science major with a 3.89 GPA, Johnson has played in all 19 games for Grand Valley State and recorded three goals and five assists for a total of 11 points from her midfield position. She has been a First Team All-GLIAC selection and was GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2006.
Dennis has been a dominating presence on the field for the Lakers, helping GVSU to a 17-0-2, 13-0-1 GLIAC record. The senior forward is second on the team with six assists, and fifth in goals (6) and points (18). Dennis has posted a 3.62 GPA while majoring in Advertising and Public Relations. She was a First Team All-GLIAC selection in 2008.
