Bay City, Mich. - Freshman Katy Tafler earned GLIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals in the Lakers' 3-1 victory against Saginaw Valley. It marked the second time on the season that Tafler has been named player of the week.
Grand Valley Freshman Katy Tafler tallied two goals in a key GLIAC victory over Saginaw Valley State, including the game-winner. Tafler has scored a goal in 15 of the Lakers 18 matches and has notched two goals in a match six times this season. Tafler is one goal short of tying senior Mirela Tutundzic's single-season record for goals scored in a season (23). Tafler leads the squad with 51 points, 22 goals, and is tied for second with seven assists.
The Lakers play host to West Michigan rival, Ferris State, Saturday at 1 pm in their final regular season match.
