Sept. 12, 2007

Allendale, Mich. - #1 Grand Valley State University will put its 5-0-0 record to the test as Lewis University travels to Allendale on Wednesday. Opening kickoff for the game is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Lakers have won five straight to start the season, with the most recent win coming over the University of Indianapolis, 3-1, on Friday, Sept. 6.

The Lakers started the season ranked second, but moved up to number one in the Sept. 4 poll after previous no. 1 Metropolitan State of Denver lost to Winona State and then tied Fort Lewis. The Lakers will try to defend their ranking against Lewis, who enters the contest with a 2-3 record overall and an 0-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark.

Katy Tafler leads the Lakers with six goals and two assists for 14 points in five games. The defense has been stifling for GVSU, allowing just 13 shots on goal through five games. Kristina Nasturzio has played 426:58 and allowed just one goal while making 11 saves.
