Bay City, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced that Irie Dennis has been named the first GLIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the season. The junior forward scored two goals and recorded two assists in the No. 1 Lakers' first two games of the season. She was also named the inaugural GVSU Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, Sept. 1.

Grand Valley State, who was ranked No. 3 to start the week, jumped two spots to No. 1 after wins over previous No. 1 Tampa and Southern Indiana. Dennis scored the game-winning goal in both wins. She also picked up two assists in the Lakers' 5-0 win over the Screaming Eagles. She has put all four of her shot attempts on net this season.
