Lakers Release Team Awards at Banquet

Junior Jenny Swalec

Grand Valley State's women's soccer team announced the team awards for the 2004 season at their banquet on Sunday. The awards are voted on by the players. Junior forward Jenny Swalec was named the Team MVP for her outstanding play during the 2004 season. Swalec recorded eight goals and seven assists in the fall.

Junior defender Kate Duda was named Most Improved Player. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Carrier earned Best Offensive Player, while freshman defender Susan Christenson was named Best Defensive Player.

Senior Jeanna Falduto was named the 2004 Becky Wilson Award recipient. Grand Valley lost former Laker Becky Wilson to a battle with cancer last year. This award has been started in her honor for a student-athlete who best exemplifies both an exceptional work ethic and excellent academic achievement while representing the Grand Valley State Soccer Program.
