Grand Valley State defeated Mercyhurst College, 4-1, in a GLIAC contest Saturday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action. Grand Valley will play at Gannon University on Sunday, Oct. 17 at noon.

The Lakers tallied three first-half goals to take a 3-0 lead after 45 minutes of play. Junior forward Jenny Swalec scored Grand Valley's first goal at the 7:41 mark on a junior defender Katie Duda assist. Junior forward Mirela Tutundzic recorded her 16th goal of the season at the 11:50 mark and sophomore midfielder Shannon Carrier posted an unassisted goal at the 22:21 mark.

Swalec then added her second goal of the match on a Tutundzic assist at the 51:14 mark. Chelsea Fearnley scored Mercyhurst's lone goal at the 61:17 mark.

Grand Valley tallied 19 shots, including 12 shots on goal, while Mercyhurst recorded eight shots and five shots on goal. Sophomore Erin Murphy tallied four saves, while allowing the one goal.
