Allendale, Mich. - The Grand Valley State soccer team capped off another successful GLIAC weekend with a 4-0 win against Gannon. Senior Mirela Tutundzic knocked in two goals including the game winner. Freshman goalkeeper Kristina Nasturzio improved to 13-0 and recorded her ninth shutout of the season. Grand Valley improves to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in the GLIAC, while Gannon falls to 4-8-1 and 0-4 in conference play. The Lakers now head to Ohio (Oct. 15 & 16) to take on Findlay and Ashland.

Tutundzic opened up the scoring when she netted a penalty kick after she was pulled down by the Golden Knights' keeper on a breakaway. The Lakers rattled off 19 shots in the first half but were unable to squeeze one past Tiffani Parks. Freshman Katy Tafler changed things in the second half as she was able to beat Parks on a breakaway goal and a nice pass from Senior Jenny Swalec just 1:44 into the half. Swalec added a goal of her own when she was able to knock a loose ball off a Golden Knight defender and into the goal. Tutundzic added her second goal of the afternoon when she beat Parks on an assist from Tafler.

GVSU outshot Gannon 34-9 on the day, including 14 by Tutundzic and Tafler. The Lakers improved to 4-0 in GLIAC play and sit atop the standings. Grand Valley heads to Ohio to battle Findlay (Oct. 15) and Ashland (Oct. 16) next weekend.
