Marquette, Mich. - The Grand Valley women's soccer team improved to 11-1 on the season and 2-0 in GLIAC play with a 3-0 road victory against Northern Michigan. Freshman Katy Tafler tallied two goals on the afternoon including the game winner just two minutes into the match. Freshman Kristina Nasturzio recorded her eighth shutout of the year.

Tafler added her second goal of the game six minutes into the second half on an assist from Shannon Carrier to up the Laker lead to two. The two goals for Tafler were number 15 and 16 on the year. Senior Mirela Tutundzic scored just eight minutes later to secure the match for GVSU on a pass from Ashley Elsass. Tutundzic also added an assist on the game. Nasturzio turned away the two shots that the Wildcats put on goal to improve her record to 11-0 on the season. Nasturzio has allowed one goal on the year (PK against Wheeling Jesuit) in 844 minutes of action.

Grand Valley next will host Mercyhurst (Oct. 8) and Gannon (Oct. 9) in a GLIAC weekend battle.
