Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State notched its fifth consecutive shutout and junior Mirela Tutundzic recorded a hat-trick with three goals and an assist as GVSU claimed a 7-0 victory over Charleston Sunday (Sept. 26). GVSU improves to 8-2 on the year and will open GLIAC action next Saturday (Oct. 2) at Saginaw Valley State.

Tutundzic opened the scoring with her first goal at the 15:38 mark. Susan Christenson scored the Lakers' second goal before Tutundzic added her second goal at the 37:46 mark. Freshman Courtney Finnerty scored less than two minutes later and Mirela scored her third goal of the game to give the Lakers a 5-0 lead. Erica Rose scored in the 76th minute and Shannon Carrier concluded the scoring in the 81st minute.

Grand Valley State outshot Charleston by a 42-3 margin, including a 24-2 advantage in shots on goal. GVSU's Erin Murphy was credited with the shutout.
